TRANSYLVANIA VIRTUAL RECREATION
(Chessington World of Adventures 1990)
Ever wanted to travel back in time by 30 years? Of course you have. In November of 2018 I completed a project where I recreated the now defunct Transylvania area at Chessington World of Adventures in 1:1 3D.
This is a fully playable virtual experience, where you can explore, ride and interact with various aspects of the area as you would have been able to all the way back in 1990. The primary focus was the 'Professor Burp's Bubbleworks' dark ride, however other sections like gift shops, exterior areas and the bombastically Gothic Vampire roller-coaster station were included too. Development & screenshots
Using game development software created by VALVE, I was able to create a faithful recreation of how the area appeared between the years 1990 and 2005. The game engine has significant limitations due to its age, however by pushing it to its very limits I was able to develop geometry, lighting, sound and effects to really bring it to life. Several details include a functioning on-ride photo, pick-upable*maps, and several tributes to my ridiculously cool parents.
